Here's hoping their upcoming album is a big success, visit www.thekarmaheart.co.uk for more details.

ROCKING HUT BANK HOLIDAY

FESTIVAL OF MUSIC

Crook Town AFC played host to yet another superb rocking August Bank Holiday Music Festival this past Sunday as the annual Rock The Hut event saw 5 bands from the North East region entertain a full to capacity club house.

The free entry festival was once again a resounding success with young and old alike, showcasing a variety of artists all offering something that little bit different. Music Zoo were once again in attendance having been impressed by last years performers and the warm reception afforded to us by the good people of Crook.

This years event was headlined by Alcatraz House Band, with Jen and the boys on fine form supported by a cast of Velvet Riders, Propa-Ganda fronted by Tubesnake guitarist Tom, an acoustic spot entitled Acoustic Sofa performed by members of Velvet Riders, and local youngsters with a big future ahead of them, Little Giantz.

Special mention should certainly go to the talented Little Giantz who, with an average age of just 10 between the four members, amazed their elder peers and audience with such a confident yet professional approach to their set. Their sound, aided by guest MC and sound technician for the day Stevie Wright of Captain Rock, was certainly impressive... well done guys!

We are delighted to say Marshall and the staff at Millfield once again put on a superb day of musical fun and frolics for those lucky enough to be crammed into the venue's club house. We'll be back once again that's for sure.

Get along to Millfield and support the venue, top music with a smile is a guarantee.

RECENT ADDITIONS

It has been confirmed in the last week that Buffalos Rock Club will be leaving their current grazing patch and moving on to pastures new, following the announcement from the home of The Herd that the owner intends to close Houghton Buffalos club located at Frederick Place in the town.

Whilst losing this great venue is a massive blow for music fans in the area, Dave Fulton of Buffalos Rock Club was able to provide some source of good news to The Herd with the confirmation that the Friday rock nights WILL relocate to nearby Houghton Comrades at Pear Tree Place, Houghton-le-Spring only a short distance away.

The final visitors to play at the current venue will be Borderland on Friday 10th September 2010, with The Force raising the curtain on a new era for Buffalos Rock Club at Houghton Comrades on Friday 17th September 2010.

It has been agreed that Dave, Stan, Mick and Dutch will continue to run the rock club in the same manner as before with all bookings and prices agreed previous to relocation being honoured. Discussions have already taken place for the stage at Houghton Comrades to be increased in size and it is hoped this alteration can be completed before the change over takes place.

On a positive note for those booked to entertain The Herd, the load is now on the same level as the room around the back which means an end to all those stairs!

So fear not music lovers, The Herd are very much still alive and kicking with their unique brand of Friday night rock set to continue at Houghton Comrades Club ... you can't keep a good Bull down!
